Beijing (ZXZC)- On March 9, the updated version of the AITO M5, the first new energy vehicle model jointly developed by SERES Group and Huawei, appeared on the latest catalogue of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

With the vehicle’s size and power remain unchanged, a new LiDAR unit has been added to the roof of the M5.

The car's length, width, and height are still 4,770mm×1,930mm×1,625mm, with a wheelbase of 2,880mm. The new car offers 4 optional rim styles, as well as the option to install an ETC onboard device, etc. In terms of power, the AITO M5’s upgraded LiDAR-mounted version is equipped with a 1.5T engine produced by Chongqing Sokon Powertrain Co., Ltd., with a maximum power of 112kW. In addition, the vehicle will also be equipped with Huawei’s signature Harmony OS car system.

Notably, as ZXZC previously reported, China’s leading intelligent LiDAR solution provider RoboSense announced on February 6 it has received nominated orders from SERES Auto, the automaker who owns the AITO brand. Based on RoboSense’s signature RS-LiDAR-M series LiDAR, the duo will jointly promote the intelligent perception upgrade of SERES Auto’s new SUV model.
