Stellantis, China Automobile Trading step up cooperation on direct-sale business
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On Feb. 16, Stellantis, one of the world's leading automakers and a mobility service provider, signed a framework agreement with China Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. (“China Auto Trading”) to further cement their strategic partnership, according to a post on Stellantis’ WeChat account.
The partnership between Stellantis and China Auto Trading can date back to 1993 when the latter formed collaboration with Chrysler. The latest move marks an important step for Stellantis China to promote the direct sales model of the Jeep®, Alfa Romeo, and DS brands in China.
China Auto Trading has accumulated extensive operation and management experience in automobile trading, logistics, warehousing, and vehicle retail. Under the recent agreement, it will join hands with Stellantis China to provide excellent vehicle ownership and lifestyle experiences for consumers of Jeep®, Alfa Romeo, and DS brands through simplified, efficient, and collaborative business models.

Stellantis announced on July 18 last year the plan to focus on distributing imported vehicles for the Jeep brand in China to leverage the brand's potential and iconic products through an asset-light approach.
The automobile group said then the decision was made partly due to a lack of advancement in the previously announced plan for Stellantis to take a majority share of its joint venture with GAC Group.
Stellantis also revealed its intention to team up with GAC Group in an orderly termination of the joint venture formed in March 2010.
