Geely Automobile posts 9% YoY rise in Jan. 2023 export volume

Beijing (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (Geely Automobile) sold 103,452 vehicles in total in the first month of 2023, according to the company’s sales report issued on February 7.

A year-on-year drop of 29% confronted the automaker in January due to the Chinese Lunar New Year holidays, Geely Automobile explained. 

Among the vehicles sold last month, 11,031 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs), including 10,443 battery-electric vehicles (down 32% YoY) and 588 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (down 76% YoY). In addition, Geely Automobile shipped 15,105 vehicles overseas in January, indicating a rise of 9% from the year-ago period. 

As to January performance of individual brands, the Geely brand sold 87,255 vehicles, indicating a 29% drop from a year ago. With 5,825 vehicles sold, its electric vehicle-dedicated Geometry brand witnessed a year-on-year decline of 43% in the past month.

Lynk & Co obtained a 40% decrease in January sales compared to the earlier year, which came in at 11,066 vehicles. Besides, the auto brand offered 1,663 vehicles to European users via subscription in the past month. 

Geely’s premium new energy vehicle brand, ZEEKR, delivered 3,116 vehicles in January, which slipped 12% from a year ago. 

The group’s joint venture brand with Lifan Technology, Livan Auto, was the only sub-brand within the group to achieve a positive year-on-year growth in January sales, which stood at 2,015 units (up 20% YoY)
