Geely brand to launch new mid-to-high-end NEV series on Feb. 23

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Auto Group will launch a new energy vehicle (NEV) strategy for its Geely brand on Feb. 23, the automaker announced last Saturday via its WeChat account.

Under the new strategy, a Geely-branded mid-to-high NEV product series will be introduced to the public along with the unveiling of its first electric vehicle model.

According to the teaser photo released by the automaker, the first model under the fire new NEV series would be a full-sized sedan. It will feature L-shaped LED daytime running lights, the trendy fastback-styled body design, and pop-out door handles with illuminated LED light spots.

Yang Xueliang, senior vice president of Geely Holding Group, said in an interview that the Geely-branded mid-to-high-end NEV family would offer three power solutions, namely, all-electric, plug-in hybrid electric, and range-extended electric. He added the NEV series would adopt a fire new design language and configurations for auto intelligence, and would give users a direct access to buying vehicles and enjoying services.

Geely Auto scored a year-on-year growth of 8% in its 2022 auto sales, which stood at 1,432,988 units. Notably, its yearly sales of NEVs (referring to full-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles under the brands of Geely, Geometry, Lynk & Co, ZEEKR, and Livan) came in at 328,727 units last year, zooming up 300% from the year-ago period.

The automaker expects its annual sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) to double year on year to exceed 600,000 units in 2023.
