Shanghai (ZXZC)- Honda Motor announced today its full-year China retail sales reached 1,373,122 units in 2022, falling 12.1% from a year earlier partly due to the impact of the coronavirus epidemic and the auto parts supply constraints.

Of the vehicles the Japanese automaker sold in China last year, 231,274 units were electrified vehicles (including hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and battery-electric vehicles).

The downward movement also confronted the annual sales of Honda Motor's two joint ventures in China. GAC Honda saw its retail sales shrink 6.19% over a year ago to 720,716 units last year, while Dongfeng Honda recorded a 17.76% year-on-year decrease by selling 652,406 vehicles through 2022.

As for the performance of main models, both the ACCORD and the CR-V logged a retail sales volume of over 200,000 units in 2022. The annual sales of the CIVIC exceeded 150,000 units. In addition, there were three models whose respective full-year retail sales all topped 100,000 units, namely, the BREEZE, the VEZEL, and the XR-V.

Honda Motor also announced its monthly China retail sales reached 138,512 units in Dec. 2022, dipping 17.9% over the year-ago period.

With 70,370 vehicles sold in total, GAC Honda clocked a 13.12% year-over-year decline in its Dec. sales. In the same month, a year-on-year decline of 22.27% confronted Dongfeng Honda's sales, which came in at 68,142 units.
