Honda Motor posts 11.4% YoY drop in Jan.-Nov. China sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Honda Motor announced on Monday its monthly China retail sales reached 78,126 units in Nov. 2022, tumbling 42.8% from a year earlier, while also falling 26.3% from the previous month.

As for the sales of the two joint ventures, GAC Honda saw its Nov. sales slide 34.2% over a year ago to 45,512 units, while Dongfeng Honda also posted a two-digit year-on-year drop of 51.7% by selling 32,614 vehicles last month.

For the first eleven months of 2022, Honda Motor sold 1,234,610 vehicles across China, reflecting an 11.4% decrease over the year-ago period, versus the 7.9% year-on-year decline in the Jan.-Oct. sales.

With 650,346 vehicles sold in total, GAC Honda clocked a 5.4% decline over a year ago in its Jan.-Nov. sales. Nevertheless, a year-on-year dip of 17.2% confronted Dongfeng Honda's year-to-date sales, which came in at 584,264 units.

In Nov. 2022, Honda Motor's China unit sold 10,409 vehicles armed with the hybrid powertrain system "Sport Hybrid", according to the monthly sales data released by the Japanese automaker and compiled by ZXZC, resulting in a year-to-date volume of 179,053 units, which dropped 15.5% over the year-ago period.

At the 5th CIIE (China International Import Expo) held last month, Honda Motor revealed the e:N2 Concept electric car, which is the concept model for the second set of e:N Series models that will be exclusively sold in China through Dongfeng Honda and GAC Honda joint ventures.
