Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC AION, the new energy vehicle (NEV) subsidiary of GAC AION, on Nov. 3 launched its new-generation platform dedicated to premium battery electric vehicles (BEVs), named AEP 3.0, which will be applied in the models under AION's Hyper premium car brand first.

According to GAC AION, the AEP 3.0 platform boasts a supercar-level electric drive technology. Using the X-PIN flat wire and intelligent multi-mode gear shifting technologies, the platform enables a vehicle to zip from 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds driven by an electric motor and in as low as 1.9 seconds under the two-motor-drive condition. The maximum speed for an AEP 3.0-powered vehicle can reach 300km/h.

The vehicle model atop the AEP 3.0 platform will have a supercar-style low center of gravity and a lightweight body structure, which contribute to a rear-wheel-drive layout with a higher manipulation extremity and the scalability to have an all-wheel-wheel arrangement.

Moreover, on the new platform, GAC AION adopts its unique AICS (AION Intelligence Chassis System) to adjust the output torque of wheels, braking torque, and rigidity of suspension based on a slew of parameters like wheels' rotate speeds, cornering degrees, and yaw velocity, so as to realize dynamic multi-system matching and control, and achieve a turning radius as low as 5.3 meters and a 30% increase in steering sensitivity and precision compared to sale-level vehicles.

The first model riding on the AEP 3.0 platform is the Hyper SSR, which starts at 1.286 million yuan in presale, and is expected for volume production and delivery in Oct. 2023, according to Zhang Xiong, deputy general manager of GAC AION.

Dubbed "Xingling" (Chinese Pinyin), GAC AION's all-new electrical/electronic architecture will be officially launched on Nov. 8.
