Honda Motor’s China sales in Aug. leap 48.9% YoY
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Honda Motor announced today its monthly China sales reached 136,530 units in August 2022, surging 48.9% from a year earlier, while edging up 2.2% from the previous month.
As of August 2022, the Japanese automaker has achieved a year-on-year increase in its China sales for three straight months.
As for the sales of the two joint ventures, GAC Honda saw its Aug. sales leapt 30.9% over a year ago to 68,638 units, while Dongfeng Honda scored a remarkable 73% year-on-year spike by selling 67,892 vehicles last month.
For the first eight months of 2022, Honda Motor sold 949,314 vehicles across China, reflecting a 3.8% decrease over the year-ago period, versus the 9.2% year-on-year decline in the Jan.-Jul. sales.
The year-to-date sales of vehicles armed with the hybrid powertrain system “Sport Hybrid” added up to 140,188 units, sliding 8.4% compared to the same span of 2021.
With 488,179 vehicles sold in total, GAC Honda posted a 1.9% growth over a year ago in its Jan.-Aug. sales. Nevertheless, a year-on-year dip of 9.1% confronted Dongfeng Honda's year-to-date sales, which stood at 461,135 units.
Both GAC Honda and Dongfeng Honda had new products put into the market last month. The joint venture with GAC Group saw the ZR-V SUV hit the market on Aug. 30 with a starting price of 159,900 yuan ($23,080). Dongfeng Honda’s all-new XR-V went on sale in late August with three trim levels offered.
