The new project is expected for operation in mid-2023. It is likely to increase the annual EPS sales by over 1 billion yuan ($148.1 million) in 2024 compared to that of 2022, according to ZF's press release.
ZF started local production of its EPS systems in China in 2010. In 2012, it became the first company in China to introduce EPS systems to complete vehicle manufacturers. It will begin the volume production of the dual-redundancy steering products available for vehicles with Level 3/Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities this year.
The company also revealed it had obtained orders for drive-by-wire steering products from local clients in 2022.
Located in Anting town, ZF Shanghai possesses a technology center and an EPS manufacturing plant, focusing on the development of automotive active safety systems (braking and steering systems), passive safety systems, electronic systems, ADAS, and vehicle motion control systems, as well as the production of tubular, belt-drive, double-pinion EPS systems, etc.
