Joyson Safety Systems begins construction of Hefei base

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Joyson Safety Systems, a subsidiary of the auto parts supplier Joyson Electronics, today announced via its WeChat account it had broken ground on its manufacturing base in Hefei city, capital of East China's Anhui province.

The Hefei base is expected to start operation at the end of 2023, targeting an annual production capacity of 4 million steering wheels and 10 million air bags, said the company.

Covering a planned area of 80,000 square meters in total, the new site will contain a 29,600-square-meter smart manufacturing center, a new R&D hub, as well as relevant supporting facilities.

The R&D facility will focus on the innovation in technologies of steering wheels and air bags.

The Hefei base serves as the seventh factory and third R&D center of Joyson Safety Systems in China. Upon completion of the project, it will provide automotive safety system products for OEM clients in Asia.

Shan Jinhui, global executive vice president with Joyson Safety Systems, said the Hefei base played an important role in the company’ s strategic deployment in the Asian market, aiming to help Joyson Safety Systems expand production capacity, speed up product delivery, and improve cooperation with clients.
