In the past six months of the year, Mercedes-Benz delivered over 985,200 vehicles worldwide. With at least 355,800 vehicles delivered, the Chinese auto market accounted for 36.11% of the group’s global deliveries in the period.

In the second quarter of 2022, sales of the Mercedes-EQ series jumped 28% from the first quarter. In the meantime, the sales volume of the S-Class sedans saw an increase of 13% over a year ago, while sales of the Mercedes-Maybach luxury vehicles soared 62% compared to the same quarter of 2021, refreshing the same-period sales record.

Mercedes-Benz plans to launch 21 new models to the Chinese market in 2022, including 8 new energy vehicle models. The first China-made Mercedes EQE model, which recently rolled off the production lines in the automaker’s Shunyi factory, will hit the market within the year. Meanwhile, Chinese consumers will also see the first 7-seater EQ series SUV, the battery-electric EQS, on the market over the next several months.
