The Lida Factory is built in compliance with the BMW iFACTORY manufacturing strategy, which specifies new standards in regards of flexibility, efficiency, continuity, and digitalization, providing a global solution for the group’s electrification. The strategy applies to all of BMW’s factories around the globe, including the three complete vehicle factories and one powertrain factory in Shenyang.

BMW Group’s Shenyang manufacturing base is the best embodiment of the auto giant’s manufacturing flexibility. For its example, the 10-year-old Tiexi Factory, which produces 12 signature BMW models, helped the base boost its production volume from 100 million vehicles to 400 million vehicles in six years. In the meantime, the Dadong Factory holds production capability for traditional oil-fueled vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles, and battery-electric vehicles.

The Lida Factory also symbolizes BMW’s focus on virtualization technology. The factory is the first BMW factory that incorporates virtual simulation technologies since the preliminary design phase. From design, planning, to equipment testing, the technology helped BMW to shorten plan time and realize remote maintenance.

Notably, the brand-new BMW i3 model has already been put into production in the Lida Factory.
