China-made Mercedes-Benz EQE to be unveiled in mid-June

Shanghai (ZXZC)- The made-in-China Mercedes-Benz EQE will make its debut on June 16, Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. (“BBAC”), a joint venture between BAIC Motor and the German premium automaker, recently said.

The EQE will be the first China-made all-electric sedan model built on Merdeces-Benz's EV-dedicated platform, the EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture). Notably, it will become the four-millionth Mercedes-Benz-branded vehicle manfuacturered by BBAC.

According to the patent images released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (“MIIT”), the China-built EQE's exterior design still follows the version sold outside China. At the front, it features LED headlights that flow into a large closed-off grille.

The side profile is characterized by a smooth roofline and a dual-waistline design that accentuate the car's lenghth.

At the rear, there is a ducktail spoiler coupled with through-the-round tailights, delivering a pretty unmistakable look.

The China-made EQE measures 4,969mm long, 1,906mm wide, and 1,509mm tall, with a wheelbase that spans 3,120mm.

The automaker has only submitted the power information of the EQE 350 to the MIIT. The version will be equipped with an electric motor at the rear axle, which can pump out 215kW and 530 N·m of torque.

On May 23, the new-generation locally-produced Mercedes-Benz battery officially rolled off the assembly line at the battery plant of BBAC, paving the way for the volume production of the all-electric EQE.
