Geely Holding, Hainan’s government to team up on NEV, aerospace, education projects

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (“Geely Holding”) on June 8 signed an agreement with Hainan provincial government to carry out strategic cooperation in a host of fields, including new energy vehicle (NEV) and commericial aerospace, according to a post on Geely Holding’s WeChat account.

To be specific, both parties will team up on building a special-purpose  NEV and related industrial chain project, refitting high-end imported vehicles, conducting cooperative higher education project, and setting up a industry-education alliance.

The duo will also make joint efforts to develop projects related to the general aviation, commercial aerospace, and tourism complex of marine floating equipment.

Besides, the two parties will jointly boost the fusion of the automotive ecosystem and Hainan province’s green industry of precious plantations, conduct legitimate trade of human-planted trees, so as to contribute to achieving the carbon neutrality.

At the signing ceremony, Geely New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group inked an agreement with local authority of Haikou National High-tech Industrial Development Zone to build a special-purpose NEV project, which will be the first-of-its-kind in Hainan province.

Geely Holding is vigorously pushing ahead with its deployment in such fields as the NEV technology, autnomous driving, in-car chip, and low-orbit satellite. On June 2, Geespace, a wholly owned subsidiary of Geely Technology Group, successfully launched its first nine satellites into low earth orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center.
