Honda Motor sees China sales in May drop 30.8% YoY
Shanghai (ZXZC)- Honda Motor announced today its monthly China sales reached 89,083 units in May 2022, sliding 30.8% from a year earlier due to the impact of the coronavirus resurgence and the supply constraints of auto parts.
As for the monthly sales of the two joint ventures, Dongfeng Honda faced a year-on-year slump of 45.1% with 36,440 vehicles sold last month, while GAC Honda also saw its May sales shrink 15.6% from the previous year.
For the first five months of 2022, Honda Motor sold 538,085 vehicles across China, representing a 19.5% year-on-year decrease. The year-to-date sales of vehicles armed with the hybrid powertrain system “Sport Hybrid” reached 79,752 units.
With 280,429 vehicles sold in total, GAC Honda posted a 8.6% year-on-year decline in its Jan.-May sales. A two-digit dip confronted Dongfeng Honda's year-to-date sales.

As to update of product lineup, GAC Honda started presale of the e:NP1 in late May. As the first production model of GAC Honda’s EV brand “e:NP”, the e:NP1 is priced at 175,000 yuan ($26,310) to 205,000 yuan ($30,820) in presale. The BEV model is about to hit the market this month.
Additionally, the joint venture with GAC Group unveiled the ZR-V at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show. The new compact SUV is expected to go on sale in August 2022.
