Former CTO of Li Auto joins Alibaba-affiliated Vision Plus Capital

Beijing (ZXZC)- On May 20th, China’s venture capital Vision Plus Capital announced the addition of its new partner, Wang Kai, former CTO of the NEV startup Li Auto.

During his time at Li Auto, Wang Kai is fully responsible for the startup’s R&D on advanced intelligent vehicle technologies, including electronic and electrical, smart cockpit, autonomous driving, and computing platform. Prior to his time in Li Auto, Wang Kai once served in Visteon, Nokia, Detection Technology, Datang Microelectronics, and Ark China Science and Technology. 

On the other hand, Vision Plus Capital is established in 2015 by Wu Yongming, co-founder of China’s e-commerce conglomerate, Alibaba Group. The venture’s team members all came from top-tier internet companies and venture capitals. 

The capital firm has been actively strengthening its investments in the high-tech area, including new energy vehicles, autonomous driving, semiconductors, and IoT technologies. Notably, Li Auto was one of the companies that Vision Plus Capital poured investments into. Aside from Li Auto, Vision Plus Capital also invested in QCraft, LEEKR Technology, and BITO Robotics. 

The venture capital said that Wang Kai’s knowledge, understanding, and rich experience in the auto industry will help the company perfect its industrial investment ecosystem, and discover “the next Li Auto”.
