Along with the photos, JIDU also gave an update on the development process of the automotive robot. Currently, NVIDIA’s Orin chip and Hesai Technology’s AT128 hybrid solid-state LiDAR have already been mounted on the vehicle, undergoing JIDU’s autonomous driving system tests. This is also the debut of JIDU’s complete autonomous driving technology solution.

According to the head of JIDU’s intelligent driving unit, Wang Weibao, the LiDAR autonomous driving solution and the previously disclosed SIMUCar2.0 autonomous driving system are two independent systems, realizing true “redundancy” after mass production. The two sets of autonomous driving systems back up and complement each other.

The two-LiDAR solution has its own merits, including a distinct layout that adds to the robot car’s appearance and safety advantages. The two LiDARs in the front feature a wider and safer point cloud field of view of 180° horizontally. Furthermore, the two LiDARs are able to overlap on top of each other within the 60° field of view in front of the car, boosting up the car’s recognition accuracy.
