Beijing (ZXZC)- China’s AI chip developer HOUMO.AI recently closed its Pre-A+ financing round, raising hundreds of millions of yuan.

The round was co-led by Matrix Partners and Jinpu Yueda Auto Fund. Participants of the round include China’s SME Development Fund’s Lenovo Sub-Fund and Tianjin Venture Capital. The company’s existing investors also put in additional investments in this round. 

According to HOUMO.AI, the funding will be mainly put towards chip R&D, accelerating the company’s expansion and layout in the intelligent driving and pan-robotics fields.

HOUMO.AI is a young startup founded at the end of 2020. The company develops AI chips with big computing power based on compute-in-memory technology. The company’s innovative technologies in the underlying architecture can significantly improve chip performance. Its products can be used in intelligent driving, robotics, and other edge or cloud reasoning scenarios. 

HOUMO.AI's first chip has taped out in August 2021, signifying a milestone in the company’s R&D progress. Its chips have prominent advantages compared to the traditional chips on the market. The company’s architecture allows a higher than average computing power, and an extreme energy efficiency ratio that surpasses the traditional chips by orders of magnitudes.
