GAC Group boasts two-digit growth in March, Q1 sales
Shanghai (ZXZC)- GAC Group announced today its automobile sales amounted to 608,167 units for the first quarter of 2022, jumping 22.48% from a year ago.
Of the new vehicles sold in the Jan.-Mar. period, 52,819 and 108,931 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs) and energy-saving vehicles, representing a year-on-year surge of 144.8% and 117.44% respectively.
As for monthly performance, the Guangzhou-headquartered auto giant saw its vehicle sales leap 30.66% from the year-ago period to 227,471 units last month. Both the NEV and the energy-saving vehicle sectors scored a three-digit year-on-year increase.
Except GAC FCA and GAC Mitsubishi, the other subsidiaries all attained a year-on-year growth in both March and year-to-date sales. Of them, the Sino-Japanese joint venture GAC Toyota ranked highest in terms of sales volume, while GAC AION, the group's NEV-dedicated arm, outperformed others regarding the growth rate.

According to GAC AION's sales results, it also achieved its highest-ever monthly sales in March. Notably, the NEV maker was logging monthly sales topping 10,000 units for seven straight months from July 2021 to January 2022.
GAC Group said it had seven vehicle models whose March sales all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the Camry series (27,211 units), the Accord series (20,667 units), the Levin series (20,032 units), the Vezel (16,623 units), the Wildlander (14,344 units), the Breeze series (12,481 units), the Trumpchi GS4 series (12,374 units).
