CATL, BYD, CALB account for 78.6% of China’s Jan. power battery installed capacity

Shanghai (ZXZC)- In January 2022, China's power battery outputs reached 29.7GWh, soaring 146.2% year on year, while dipping 6.2% month on month, according to the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).

Of the power batteries produced last month, 10.8GWh and 18.8GWh were ternary-lithium batteries and lithium phosphate batteries, up 57.9% and 261.8% from the year-ago period respectively.

The CAPBIIA's data show that China's power battery installed capacity reached 16.2GWh in January 2022, leaping 86.9% from the year-ago period, while tumbling 38.3% over the previous month.

Regarding Jan. power battery installed capacity, the top 3 players were CATL, BYD, and CALB, accounting for 78.6% of the country's total capacity. CATL was still the champion with an installed capacity of 8.13GWh, 4.17GWh of which were contributed by ternary-lithium batteries. BYD recorded a capacity of 3.39GWh, up to 96% of which were from lithium phosphate batteries. CALB ranked third by taking 7.4% market share, while it was only outperformed by CATL in terms of Jan. ternary-lithium battery installed capacity.

Compared to the previous month, SVOLT and EVE Energy moved up 1 and 4 spots to the 5th and 6th respectively, while LG Energy Solution dropped 7 places to the 12th.
