In December, Volkswagen AG sold 13,787 units of the ID. Series vehicles in China, representing a 2.68% notch down from the previous month’s 14,167 units.
Since the ID. models hit the Chinese market at the end of March 2021, the company has sold 70,625 vehicles in total, with substantial growth month after month, except December.
Currently, there are five models of the ID. Series on the market in China, including the ID.3, the ID.4 X and ID.6 X from SAIC-VW, the ID.4 CROZZ and ID.6 CROZZ from FAW-VW.
Notably, China’s new energy vehicle subsidies have experienced drastic changes, with the government notice stating that the new energy vehicles with a 300-400km range will benefit RMB9,100 in subsidy, and those offer a range greater than 400km are eligible for RMB12,600 in subsidy.
The ID. Series’ vehicles fall right into the designated categories, thus releasing a price increase announcement in December 2021. Starting January 1st, 2022, the prices of the ID.6 CROZZ and the ID.4 CROZZ will rise RMB5,400 to compensate for the government subsidy changes.
