SAIC Motor’s Nov. auto sales drop 6.61% YoY, but NEV sales hit new highs

Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC Motor's monthly auto wholesales reached 601,360 units in November, dropping 6.61% year on year, while climbing 3.3% month on month, according to the sales results the group released on Tuesday.

As of Nov. 2021, SAIC Motor had seen its wholesales consecutively grow month-by-month for the fifth month.

SAIC Motor's monthly wholesales declined in sync with the production volume, which dropped 8.22% year on year to 605,378 units in November.

Despite a 0.87% slight decline, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) still outsold the other subsidiaries last month. For the first eleven months, it scored a 6.31% growth amid the downturn in SAIC Motor's overall wholesales. The sales of the Asta, the first SUV model bearing Wuling brand's global silver badge, surpassed 15,000 units in November.

Both SAIC-GM and SAIC Volkswagen posted double-digit year-over-year decrease in Nov. sales. Nevertheless, some positive data are still noteworthy. According to SAIC Motor, SAIC-GM has received nearly 5,000 orders of the Cadillac LYRIQ, the first China-made model riding on the Ultium BEV platform, since the presale kicked off on Nov. 17. The average monthly sales of the all-new Tiguan L and the all-new Passat, both of which went on sale in August, remained above 15,000 units.

SAIC Motor Passager Vehicle Company sold 100,087 vehicles in Nov. to gain a 23.98% year-on-year leap. Its Jan.-Nov. sales have already exceeded the full-year volume of 2020.

SAIC Motor sold 638,186 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in the Jan.-Nov. period, up by 155.45% from the year-ago period. Notably, the group's NEV wholesales hit all-time highs of 82,290 units in November.

Thanks to the robust demands of the ID. series, SAIC Volkswagen's NEV sales rocketed 205.5% year over year to nearly 12,000 units.
