Car and City: October 2021 registrations of XPeng models
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In October 2021, a total of 10,287 consumers in China bought insurance for XPeng's new vehicles, representing a 246.4% year-on-year hike, while showing a 0.9% month-on-month drop, according to the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC).
In terms of Oct. registrations of China's domestically-built new energy vehicle (NEV) models, XPeng topped the other Chinese NEV startups and ranked ninth among car brands in the world's largest auto market.
The P7 was still the best-selling XPeng-branded model. Its insurance registrations reached 6,114 units in October, dropping 18.4% over a month earlier. Among China-made NEV models, the P7 ranked 11th by Oct. registrations.
Regarding car ownership, 5,603 and 504 P7s were registered by private and B2B users respectively in October. Besides, only 7 units were registered for car rental service.
Guangzhou, where the startup is headquartered, was the No.1 city in October regarding the XPeng P7's registrations. Both Shanghai and Shenzhen recorded the P7 registrations topping 400 units last month. The occupants of the fourth to sixth places were Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Chongqing. Beijing ranked seventh with 276 P7s registered.
The insurance volume of the XPeng G3 reached 3,765 units last month, 3,639 units of which were the G3is. Compared to the previous month, the G3 attained a 42.4% upward movement.
In terms of the Oct. registrations of the G3, Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen also occupied the top 3 spots among Chinese cities. Except Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Zhaoqing, Foshan, and Dongguan, which all cracked the top 10 cities rankings by Oct. G3 registrations, were also from Guangdong province.
There were 408 P5s registered in October, resulting in 722 units in the model's cumulative registrations.
XPeng's home base city Guangzhou still topped the other cities by the Oct. P5 registrations. It was also the only one with over 100 P5s registered last month.
