The teaser image in BYD’s poster shows that the mysterious model should be the company's all-new plug-in hybrid sedan “F5”, whose Chinese name “Quzhujian 05” has been recently exposed by local media channels. The “Quzhujian” is equivalent to the naval terminology “destroyer”, a fast, maneuverable, long-endurance warship used to escort larger vessels in a fleet and defend them against powerful short range attackers.
According to some photos leaked online, the F5 will bear BYD new flat-shaped logo. At the front, the massive grille couple with slender headlights elicits a rather aggressive look. Besides, the large-sized air intakes also emphasize the car's sporty appearance.
The new model measures 4,780mm long, 1,837mm wide and 1,495mm tall with a 2,718-mm wheelbase, the similar dimensions to that of the BYD Qin PLUS. Powering the vehicle will be a 1.5-liter DM-i plug-in hybrid system that is good for up to 81kW. The model is capable of 101km on battery power alone and features a combine fuel consumption of only 1.58 liter per 100km under WLTC test cycle.
