SAIC Motor sees Jan.-Oct. sales edge down 0.21% YoY
Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC Motor's monthly auto wholesales reached 582,137 units in Oct., sliding 2.44% year on year, while jumping 12.86% month on month, according to the sales results the group released on Thursday.
As of Oct. 2021, the Shanghai-based auto giant had posted year-on-year sales decline for six straight months, resulting in a 0.21% slight decline in the year-to-date sales.
Among subsidiaries, SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) still ranked highest in terms of Oct. wholesales. Despite the drop in the group's overall sales, SGMW still scored a two-digit sales growth last month. Notably, the Oct. sales of the Wuling Asta SUV, which just hit the market in mid-September, surpassed 10,000 units.
Both SAIC-GM and SAIC Volkswagen recorded double-digit decrease in Oct. wholesales. According to SAIC Motor, SAIC-GM sold nearly 22,000 Cadillac-branded vehicles last month.

SAIC Motor Passager Vehicle Company sold 100,001 vehicles to achieve a 42.09% year-on-year leap in Oct. The respective monthly sales of the Roewe RX5 and the MG ZS were still above 10,000 units.
With 555,896 units sold, SAIC Motor's new energy vehicle (NEV) unit boasted a 187.57% year-on-year hike in Jan.-Oct. wholesales. Last month, the group's NEV wholesales reached 76,988 units, while the monthly deliveries hit record highs of around 82,000 units (+131.2% YoY).
There were over 8,000 consumers in China taking delivery of SAIC Volkswagen's ID series vehicles in Oct., representing a 210% year-on-year surge.
SAIC Motor's overseas market sales rocketed 99.4% to about 529,000 units in the Jan.-Oct. period and are expected to exceed 600,000 units in full-year volume.
