Xiaomi EV company names new vice president

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Li Xiaoshuang, general manager of Xiaomi's major home appliances department, has been named vice president of Xiaomi's electric vehicle (EV) unit to be accountable for the businesses related to products, supply chain, and marketing, Xiaomi Group announced on Oct. 15.

After assuming the position, Mr. Li will directly report to Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi Automobile Co.,Ltd.

As publicly disclosed, Li Xiaoshuang was appointed as the general manager of Xiaomi's major home appliance business unit in February 2020. Since the year of 2010, he had been responsible for user experience and product design businesses at Beijing Duokan Techonology, where Lei Jun controls around 38% stake, led the design of the Mi Box, and served as the director to Xiaomi's TV department.

Xiaomi announced on September 1 it had registered a car company called Xiaomi Automobile Co.,Ltd. Involving a registered capital of 10 billion yuan ($1.554 billion), the company has an operational scope covering a wide range of EV-related businesses, including the R&D of electric vehicles, auto parts, e-motors, electric controlling systems, the manufacturing of auto parts, lithium ion batteries, intelligent in-car facilities, and the sales of automobiles and components.

While Xiaomi Automobile's registration being announced, Lei Jun posted on his Weibo account a group photo of himself along with 16 core staff members of Xiaomi's EV unit. Li Xiaoshuang was one of the members.
