Beijing (ZXZC)- The commercial vehicle arm of FAW Group, FAW Jiefang, reported a slump in its September production and sales volume.

The company produced a combined number of 16,245 vehicles of both trucks and buses in September, representing a 64.73% drop compared to last year's 46,054 vehicles. The month's sales volume amounted to 15,388 vehicles in total, plummeting 64.97% from 43,925 vehicles sold a year ago.

Heavy-duty vehicles were sold 9,353 vehicles, more than halved (by 72.6%) year on year. Light commercial vehicle sales also endured a slump of 37.72% comparing to the previous year, to 5,021 vehicles.

The year-to-date sales results of the first nine months were not as good as the first half. During the first half of this year, FAW Jiefang managed to sell 339,000 vehicles in total, increasing 21.9% from a year ago. Medium to heavy-duty vehicles were sold by 286,000 units, up 24.36% compared to the same period of the previous year.

In addition, FAW Jiefang has set several future targets in regards to accommodating the new energy vehicle transformation, as the company aims to sell 120,000 new energy commercial vehicles (NECVs) in 2025, 320,000 NECVs in 2030, and 500,000 NECVs in 2035.

As of now, the company has launched 141 models of new energy commercial trucks in all sizes, successfully realizing the electrification of traditional trucks.
