The robust growth was wholly credited to the 257.62% hike in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales. Notably, the sales of new energy passenger vehicles (NEPVs) zoomed up 276.4% over a year ago to 70,022 units last month, which made the year-to-date NEPV sales top 300,000 units.

Of the NEPVs sold in Sept., 33,716 units were DM models (namely, PHEVs), representing a 427.55% remarkable increase year-over-year thanks to the driving forces from the DM-i models.

With 15,164 units sold, the Qin PLUS DM-i accounted for 45% of the BYD DM models Sept. sales. Meanwhile, the sales of the Tang DM, the Song DM, and the Han DM reached 10,278, 5,822, and 2,452 units respectively.

The sales of the BYD Dolphin reached 3,000 units last month. As the first mass-produced model based on BYD's BEV-dedicated e-platform 3.0, the Dolphin hit the market at the Chengdu Motor Show 2021 at the end of August.
