GAC Group boasts YoY growth in Jan.-Sept. outputs, wholesales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- For the first nine months of 2021, GAC Group scored year-on-year growth in both vehicle outputs and wholesales despite the coronavirus pandemic and the industry-wide chip shortage.

According to a recent announcement, GAC Group produced and sold 1,443,706 and 1,493,726 new vehicles during the first three quarters, representing year-on-year growth of 3.85% and 6.15% respectively. Meanwhile, the group's year-to-date deliveries reached about 1.543 million units, jumping 10.7%.

However, GAC Group's wholesales in September tumbled 24.63% over a year ago, showing year-on-year decline for the fourth month in a row.

Among subsidiaries, GAC Honda ranked No.1 by selling 72,054 vehicles last month, including 12,355 all-new FITs, 13,261 BREEZEs, and 13,893 VEZELs. Its Jan.-Sept. wholesales stood at 548,742 units, remaining flat over the year-ago period.

GAC Toyota posted a 40.37% year-over-year plunge in Sept. wholesales, while its year-to-date sales still rose 7.37%. The Sino-Japanese joint venture also saw its Jan.-Sept. deliveries grow 12% to 603,386 units.

GAC Motor, the wholly-owned passenger vehicle subsidiary of GAC Group, logged a 26.32% year-on-year dip in Sept. wholesales, while its year-to-date sales still jumped at a two-digit growth. Notably, the company's MPV sales for the first three quarters totaled 82,792 units, soaring 81.3%.

Regarding the performance of new products, GAC Motor has so far received over 40,000 orders of the EMPOW since the A-segment sedan hit the market in early August.

GAC Group sold a total of 91,462 new energy passenger vehicles (+82.4% YoY) during the first nine months, 15,193 (+86.2%) of which were sold in September.

GAC AION, the exclusively-invested new energy vehicle subsidiary of GAC Group, boasted a 96% year-on-year hike in Sept. wholesale volume. The monthly deliveries of the AION series surged 124% to 13,586 units in Sept., exceeding 10,000 units for five consecutive months.
