Dongfeng commercial vehicle subsidiary Sept. sales down 8% YoY
Beijing (ZXZC)- The commercial vehicle arm of Dongfeng Motor Group, Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC), saw a decline in its September auto sales compared to last year, and sales result of its engine joint venture also plummeted, as the company showed in its report.

According to the report, DFAC, the commercial vehicle manufacturing joint venture between Dongfeng Motor and Nissan, sold 14,082 vehicles in September, decreasing 8% from a year ago. The cumulative sales volume of DFAC was 143,114 vehicles for the first nine months this year, rising 13.31% year on year.
The company’s mainstay, the light trucks sector, sold 11,571 vehicles in September, down 12.34% versus the previous year. Monthly sales of buses nearly doubled year on year, from 792 vehicles to 1,471 vehicles, resulting in a cumulative sales volume of 12,262 vehicles this year so far, soaring 142.43% comparing to the same period of last year.
DFAC’s heavy-duty engine joint venture with Cummins Inc., Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co. Ltd., sold 11,846 units of engines, plummeting 36.71% from the previous year.
Moreover, the company did not sell one unit of its passenger vehicle in September. Its passenger vehicle annual sales were 298 vehicles to date, representing a 19.68% increase from the same time span of last year.
