Nissan Aug. China sales fall 10.6% YoY

Beijing (ZXZC)- Nissan Motor released its August China sales on September 6th. The automaker’s sales, including those of passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles, cumulated to 915,299 units for the first eight months of this year, increasing 8.5% year on year, and sustained its growth.

In the first eight months of 2021, Dongfeng Motor Co. & Ltd. (DFL) saw a growth of 8.2% (to 744,573 units) in passenger vehicle (including the Nissan brand and the Venucia brand) sales comparing to the same period of the earlier year. Light commercial vehicles sector (including Dongfeng Automobile Co. & Ltd. and Zhengzhou Nissan) sold 162,513 vehicles, up by 18.2% year on year.

Nissan Motor’s China sales in August (including PVs and LCVs) boosted 18% month on month to 113,166 units. However, compared to last year, monthly sales dropped 10.6% due to Coronavirus, raw material shortages, and severe floods.

On the other hand, in the light commercial vehicle sector (including DFL and Zhengzhou Nissan), sales decreased 10.8% year on year to 16,440 vehicles. Comparing to July, DFL and Zhengzhou Nissan saw a respective growth of 5% and 10.5%.

Despite all the challenging external circumstances the auto industry faces, Nissan Motor is still on track to launch new products to satisfy Chinese consumers’ diverse requirements, Shohei Yamazaki, senior vice president of Nissan Motor, chairman of Nissan China’s management committee, and president of Dongfeng Motor Co. & Ltd. said.
