Geely Auto August sales down 22% YoY
Beijing (ZXZC)- Geely Auto sales in August saw a double-digit decrease from a year ago as the auto industry was stilling affected by COVID-19 in some cities and worldwide automotive chip shortage.
Last month, the group’s total sales (including the sales of LYNK & CO-branded vehicles) fell 22% year on year to 88,348 vehicles, and its year-to-date sales grew by 9% from a year ago to 817,860 vehicles, just completing 53.5% of its annual sales target (1.53 million).
By markets, the group’s domestic sales decreased 23% from a year ago to 82,123 in August while its monthly export sales were down 2% slightly to 6,225. In the first eight months, the group exported a total of 66,701 vehicles to overseas markets, representing a year-on-year surge of 119%.

Monthly sales of Geely’s sedans stood at 29,792 while SUV sales were 57,237. The Preface saw its cumulative sales surpass 100,000 units after only 9 months of its deliveries while the total sales of the Xing Yue L exceeded 10,000 vehicles since its launching into the market 40 days ago.
Last month, the group sold a total of 8,201 new energy vehicles (NEVs) and electrified vehicles. apart from 24% year-on-year increase in NEV sales, Geely’s NEV order volume also saw continuous growth.
Monthly sales of Lynk & Co-branded vehicles plunged 64.7% year on year and 66.9% month on month to only 6,039 vehicles, the second lowest volume in the past twenty months of this year. The brand’s total sales in the first eight months of this year jumped 52% to 132,137 vehicles while its cumulative sales amounted to 562,085 vehicles.

In August, Lynk & Co brand shipped 900 vehicles to European markets and shipped vehicles to other Asia Pacific regions for the first time. In the first eight months of this year, the brand shipped 5,948 vehicles in total to other countries.
Lynk & Co started to operate its experience center in Antwerp, Belgium on August 14, its third overseas experience center in Europe for the past twelve months after the one in Amsterdam and the one in Gothenburg. The brand plans to add another 4 new experience centers by the end of this year, which will be located in Berlin, Barcelona, Paris and Milan.
