Changan Auto targets annual sales of 3 million vehicles in 2025
Beijing (ZXZC)- Changan Auto aims to sell 3 million vehicles in 2025, 35% of which will be new energy vehicles (NEVs), the automaker announced on Tuesday at its 2021 Tech Ecosystem Summit. By 2030, Changan’s annual sales are expected to reach 4.5 million vehicles, 60% of which will be NEVs, and overseas markets will contribute 30% of its total annual sales.

In 2020, the group sold 2,003,663 new vehicles, up 14% compared with the volume of 2019. In the first seven months of this year, Changan Auto’s sales increased 38.4% year on year to 1,378,788 vehicles. On May 10, this year, the cumulative production volume of the group’s Chinese brand hit the milestone of 20 million vehicles, the first one among all Chinese vehicle brands.
At the summit, Changan launched its New Auto, New Ecology development strategy with an aim to become an intelligent low-carbon mobility technology company. In the next five years, Changan will invest a total of RMB150 billion for the full industry chain to create technology ecology and accelerate the growth of its software and intelligence capability. Currently, it invests 5% of its annual sales to R&D per year with the total sum up to RMB110 billion since the start of the 11th Five-year Plan Period.
The company also plans to be a hub of global talents. By 2025, 50% of its talents are expected to work in smart software field.
The company also updated information about the first model under high-end smart EV brand Avatar, the first battery electric vehicle based on its all-new platform and the new auto project code-named EO.

At the summit, Changan, together with Huawei and CATL, revealed part of the first high-end smart electric SUV under Avatar brand, code-named E11, which was jointly developed by the three companies. Apart from unique style design, the E11 boasts Huawei Inside full-stack intelligent vehicles solutions as well as CATL latest electrification technologies to offer better intelligence user experience. The new model will make debut at the end of this year.
In the future, Changan, Huawei and CATL will jointly develop the CHN platform, on which the E11 is built, to offer competitive Smart EV product portfolio by virtue of their respective advantages in vehicle assembly, software and battery technologies.

Changan also unveiled the C385, the first strategic model built on its electric-vehicle-dedicated platform. The C385 features the company’s APA7.0 automatic parking system and advanced high frequency pulse heating technology, which can enhance vehicles’ performance at lower temperatures.

Besides, the automaker announced a new vehicle project codenamed E0, whose team has a total of 1000 staff up to now. The new model, which will adopt all-new platform, mode and process, is expected to have four main characteristics, big mobile intelligent and computing terminal, new energy storage unit, intelligent mobile space, data collection carrier.
In the coming three years, Changan will develop 11 new models, including coupe, SUV and MPV models, Zhu Huarong, chairman of the group, added.
