Great Wall Motor July sales down 9% MoM
Beijing (ZXZC)- Great Wall Motor (GWM), one of the top SUV and pickup manufacturers in China, sold 91,555 new vehicles in July, up 16.9% year on year but down 9.05% month on month. By the end of July, the group’s year-to-date sales totaled 709,766 vehicles, jumping 50% from a year ago.
In the overseas markets, GWM’s monthly sales nearly doubled to 12,438 vehicles thanks to its global strategy. In the first seven months of this year, the group’s overseas sales totaled 74,110 vehicles, surging 176.1% versus the same period of last year and accounting for 10.4% of its overall sales.
Last month, the group’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales soared 136.65% year on year to 7,251 vehicles, but were 32.8% fewer when compared with the previous month. The year-to-date sales of its NEVs increased 378.38% to 59,798 vehicles.
Among its top 9 best-selling models, only the Haval M6 Plus and the Haval Chitu managed to realize sales growth compared with June. Monthly sales of the Haval H6, the Haval Big Dog and the Tank 300 declined 15.22%, 23.78% and 30.9% from a month ago respectively. Sales of the ORA Black Cat decreased 136.4% month on month to 2,753 vehicles.

There will be more models to come. Last week, GWM said the mass-produced version of the HAVAL XY, a HAVAL-branded flagship SUV concept vehicle unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2021, is officially named HAVAL Shenshou (meaning “mythical beast”). The new model will come into the market in the second half of this year, the company added.

Another new model from the group will also make its debut in the second half of this year. That is the WEY Latte, the second model equipped with the company’s intelligent hybrid DHT system, which will bring comfortable and convenient mobility experience for customers.
