SGMW scores 39.5% year-on-year leap in first-half deliveries

Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW), a joint venture between General Motors and two Chinese automakers, announced on Thursday it delivered 884,195 new vehicles during the first half of 2021, representing a 39.5% year-on-year jump. The retail sales of Wuling and Baojun brands stood at 693,351 and 123,057 units respectively.

The semi-annual sales of the GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) platform-based vehicles amounted to 189,644 units, surpassing the full-year volume for 2020. Notably, there were a total of 182,767 consumers taking delivery of the Hongguang MINIEV in the first six months. By the end of June, the small, boxy BEV model was honored China’s best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) model for the tenth month in a row.

Cumulative sales of the Wuling Victory four-seater MPV has to-day exceeded 60,000 units, 36,573 units of which were delivered in the first two quarters of this year. Besides, the Wuling Journey pickup hit a delivery volume of 22,762 units after it went on sale on March 18.

SGWM exported 74,225 vehicles/CKDs during the first half of 2021, posting a 53% robust growth compared to the year-ago period. In March, the automaker unveiled in Jakarta the WULING Almaz RS, Wuling brand’s first overseas model bearing Global Silver logo, marking a further step in SGMW's global business expansion.
