XPeng unveils patent related to aircraft

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chinese EV startup XPeng recently unveiled a patent for a method and device for controlling the return of aircrafts. According to the business information provider Tianyancha, the patent applicants are Guangdong Xiaopeng Motors Technology Co.,Ltd. and Guangzhou Chengxingzhidong Automotive Technology Co.,Ltd.

According to the patent abstract, the invention can make an aircraft return to the target vehicle running on roads. Specifically, the method will work in this way: obtaining the navigation information of the running target vehicle in the process of aircraft's returning; determining the target location where the target vehicle and the aircraft meet based on the aforesaid navigation information; making the aircraft return to the target vehicle according to the aforementioned location.

At the Auto Shanghai 2021, XPeng showcased the Traveler X1, the latest innovation in personal manned flying vehicle under XPeng Heitech brand. The vehicle is designed mainly for such scenarios as personal aerial flights, emergency rescue, and aerial sightseeing. XPeng said the airborne vehicle technology has already gone through four iterations during eight years of development, accumulating over 15,000 safe manned flights.
