Shanghai (ZXZC)- Geely Automobile Holdings Limited (Geely Auto) announced on June 7 the new vehicle sales of the Group (collectively referring to Geely Auto and its subsidiaries) reached 96,167 units in May 2021, dropping around 12% from the previous year, while also falling roughly 4% from the previous month.

Among the new vehicles sold last month, 6,284 units were new energy and electrified vehicles (NEEVs), including the Geometry As, the Geometry Cs, the Emgrand EVs, and the Emgrand GSes.

According to the latest monthly sales results, the Group sold 85,783 vehicles across the China market in May, representing a decrease around 19% over the year-ago period. Meanwhile, the Group's export volume in May rose over twofold year on year to 10,384 units.

For the first five months of the year, the Group saw its auto sales jump 26% from a year earlier to 530,074 units, fulfilling 35% of its 1.53 million-unit annual sales target.

In May, the Group sold 36,639 sedans, 57,961 SUVs, and 1,567 MPVs respectively.

According to Geely, the cumulative sales of the Preface compact sedan amounted to 75,332 units only seven months after the model hitting the market on November 1, 2020. Besides, the automaker kicked off in late May the presale of the Xingyue L with the order volume topping 10,000 units within only 2 days.

The sales of Lynk & Co-branded vehicles stood at 18,059 units in May, leaping 39% year over year.

Last month, another Lynk & Co-branded PHEV model, the Lynk & Co 05 PHEV Halo, went on sale with a guiding price of 227,700 yuan ($35,610). Theoretically, the vehicle can be charged to 100% from 0 of its battery capacity within three hours using the AC fast charging technology.
