Shanghai (ZXZC)- The first prototype car of the AIWAYS U6 rolled off the production line at AIWAYS' car manufacturing plant in Shangrao on May 28, marking a further advancement for the volume production of the startup's second production model.

To ensure the quality of the vehicles for delivery, the automaker put the prototype into the testing of the improvements in production facilities, manufacturing techniques, and auto parts quality. According to the startup, during the building of the prototype, those techniques like steel-aluminium blended stamping, FDS (flow drill screw), and SPR (self-piercing riveting) sailed through corresponding validation works.

The AIWAYS U6 will feature a NEDC-rated range of over 650km thanks to CATL's CTP (cell-to-pack) battery pack. Its body cage is built in line with the principle of “steel above, aluminium below'. The entire body is made of lightweight materials and also comes with recessed door handles. By virtue of such design, the drag coefficient stands at below 0.27.

As for the cockpit, the dashboard, with its 7-inch instrument panel and a 14.6-inch frameless display for multimedia system, is fully digitalized.

The car will also be equipped with an audio system built by the German MAGNAT acoustic system, which carries 15 speakers and 12-channel independent audio signals to bring users an immersive listening experience.

Presale of the AIWAYS U6 has already kicked off and the market launch is expected to start this year, according to AIWAYS.
