FAW’s Hongqi scores 132% year-on-year leap in Jan.-Apr. sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW Group announced its premium car brand Hongqi sold 91,900 new vehicles during the first four months of the year, representing a year-on-year hike of 132%.

Hongqi will strive to complete a sales volume of 400,000 units in 2021. As of April, it had completed 23% of the annual sales target.

At the Auto Shanghai 2021 held in late April, Hongqi grabbed the attention of many viewers by showing a number of new car models and key technologies. It displayed three all-new Hongqi concept models, namely the E-QM5 (a high-end EV tailored for the shared mobility service), the EV-Concept that features distinctive Hongqi design concept called “noble, excellence and artistic conception”), and the L-Concept (a new L-series limousine with ultimate design language and outstanding technology).

Meanwhile, the automaker also began the presales of two upscale Hongqi models—the S9 sports car and the H9+ Magnolia customized version.

Additionally, the automaker released a set of complete industrial ecological innovation solution at the motor show. “FAW Group is going all out to build EcoLin5, a future-oriented smart and green urban automobile ecosystem that focused on NEV intelligent auto industrial chain, and integrated four other industrial chains, including new type consumption, smart and green transportation, intelligent energy and new infrastructure", Xu Liuping, chairman of FAW Group, said at the press conference.

Moreover, there were five key technologies, including hydrogen-powered engine, next generation advanced electrification and intelligence platform HEi2.0, 300kW electric power system Hm3, FEEA3.0 electrical and electronic architecture technology, as well as Qisi 2.0 - Hongqi's Smile human-machine interaction experience platform showcased at Hongqi's booth as well.
