The vehicles delivered last month included 2,855 P7 sports sedans and 2,247 G3 compact SUVs, according to XPeng's delivery results.

For the first quarter of 2021, the startup's quarterly deliveries hit a record high of 13,340 EVs, zooming up 487% from a year earlier.

XPeng said the highest-ever quarterly deliveries were credited to its growing brand recognition and brand appeal, expanded product portfolio, and its relentless endeavors in enlarging sales, marketing and supercharging service networks countrywide.

Last month, the startup saw its cumulative deliveries surpass 50,000 units and began delivering the P7 Wing edition, which was unveiled at Auto Guangzhou 2020. It also launched in March the G3s and P7s powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which are expected for delivery in April and May respectively.

From March 19 to 26, XPeng completed a navigation-assisted autonomous driving expedition with a fleet of XPeng P7s to showcase the capability of its NGP (navigation guided pilot) highway solution. During the 8-day period, the P7 fleet traveled across 10 cities, running for 3,675 kilometers in total, the longest one to date for autonomous driving journey by mass-produced vehicles in China.

The company said the NGP function delivered stable performance in rainstorm conditions, passing through tunnels, and on highways in mountain areas, showcasing its high robustness and reliability handling the complex driving scenarios in China.
