NIO completes 2 million battery swaps
Shanghai (ZXZC)- On March 24th, NIO offered its 2 millionth battery swaps at a battery swapping station in Suzhou, the startup announced via its WeChat account.
The milestone indicates that every ten seconds there was a car departing from a NIO's battery swapping station with its battery on a full charge, said NIO.

NIO's battery swapping facilities have so far offered a total of 100 million kWh of electricity, which supported driving distance of over 396 million kilometers.
The company said battery swapping has become the most popular energy supply method for NIO’s users. In terms of the service frequency, the No.1 user has enjoyed up to 654 battery swaps when NIO's report was prepared. Regarding the per-capita times of service, the top 5 cities were Harbin, Beijing, Chengdu, Haikou and Shenzhen.
Up until now, NIO has deployed 193 battery swapping stations, 134 supercharging stations and 327 destination stations across China. It has also given access to over 380,000 third-party charging piles.
With the expansion of energy supply network, NIO plans to raise the number of battery swapping stations to 500 by the end of 2021.
The EV maker launched the second-generation battery swapping station at the NIO Day held last month. The station can accommodate 13 battery packs, and is capable of providing up to 312 battery swaps per day—three times more than the previous generation. According to NIO, the stations will be deployed from the second quarter.
