Chery Holding scores 144.9% YoY surge in Feb. sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chery Holding said it sold 50,778 new vehicles in February. Although the days available for sales were fewer than that of the previous year due to the Spring Festival holiday, the group still achieved a vigorous year-on-year growth of 144.9% because of the low base caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

For the first two months of 2021, Chery Holding saw its sales soar 98.1% from a year ago to 147,838 units.

The group said its vehicle export volume amounted to 18,294 units last month, representing a year-on-year hike of 117.3% and a month-on-month growth of 9.4%.

Chery Holding said the Chery-branded passenger vehicles (PVs), including the all-new Tiggo 8 and the Tiggo 5x, were quite popular among consumers in Europe and South America. Of the vehicles exported last month, 16,512 units were from Chery Auto, a blooming leap of 107.3% from the prior-year period.

Notably, Chery Holding's export volume in Jan. also zoomed up 86.7%. Thanks to the continuous rising movement, the group witnessed its year-to-date export volume shoot up 101.5% to 35,017 units.

The group said it has carried out special tests to make its vehicles befit the extreme cold or extreme hot conditions in countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia.

Regarding the new products to be launched this year, Chery's high-end brand EXEED will put its first full-sized 7-seater SUV, the EXEED VX (named “Lanyue” in Chinese), onto the market in mid-March. The new model will be armed with a 2.0TGDI engine that churns out up to 187kW and 390N·m.
