Chery Holding scores 80.2% year-on-year hike in Jan. sales

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Chery Holding sold 97,060 new vehicles in January 2021, boasting a precipitous year-on-year rise of 80.2%, according to a posting on the group's WeChat account.

Thanks to the strong demands of the Tiggo 8 PLUS and the Arrizo 5 PLUS, Chery Automobile saw its Jan. sales soar 76.7% from a year ago to 56,880 units last month. The sales of the Tiggo 8 series reached 20,330 units, topping 20,000 units for three straight months. In addition, the Arrizo series had a monthly sales volume of 10,193 units.

The group said its new energy vehicle (NEV) sales amounted to 7,381 units in January, zooming up 559.6% over the year-ago period. The “Ant” EV family, including the Big Ant all-electric SUV and Little Ant mini-sized full-electric car, scored a tremendous year-over-year growth of 570.5% with 6,705 units sold.

Chery Holding's Jetour series had a sales volume of 20,177 units last month. As of Jan. 2021, its monthly sales surpassed 20,000 units for the third month in a row as well.

Chery Holding said its Jan. export volume shoot up 86.7% over a year earlier to 16,723 units, including 14,520 PVs (+82% YoY) and 2,203 CVs (+124.6% YoY).

Joint ventures also attained sales surge in the first month of 2021. Specifically, Chery Jaguar Land Rover sold 6,185 vehicles with a year-on-year growth of 104.2%, while the sales of Cowin Auto in Jan. also doubled over the previous year to 2,493 units.
