Volkswagen Group unveils new management team for Anhui joint venture

Shanghai (ZXZC)- Volkswagen Group announced on Jan. 5 a new management team of the joint venture Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive Company Limited, as part of efforts to boost its e-mobility offensive in China.

Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein, Volkswagen Group China chief executive officer (CEO), was named the CEO of Volkswagen (Anhui) as well. Besides, the joint venture's chief financial officer (CFO), chief technology officer (CTO), chief production officer (CPO) and chief human resources officer (CHRO) were held by Dr. J-rg Mull, Dr. Ludger Lührmann, Harry Schneider and Shaojian.

With the new management team in place, Volkswagen (Anhui) will move at full force to push ahead with Volkswagen's e-mobility strategy in China. As the German auto giant’s third joint venture in the country, Volkswagen (Anhui) will produce electric vehicles on the MEB platform with the production starting in 2023.

For Dr. Stephan Wöllenstein, his new role is in addition to being CEO of Volkswagen China Passenger Cars brand – a position he has held since 2016, and Member of the Board of Management, Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand, plus CEO of Volkswagen Group China, where he has been in post since 2019. Since joining Volkswagen in 1995, Wöllenstein has held several senior posts in international sales departments as well as in Product Management at SAIC VOLKSWAGEN and FAW-Volkswagen.

On December 8, Volkswagen Group saw the inauguration of a new R&D center at its facilities in Hefei, indicating that Anhui province is to advance into a new center of competence and e-mobility hub for the German auto giant in China.

In early December, JAC Volkswagen was renamed as Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive Company Limited. With a 75% stake in the joint venture, Volkswagen takes over management control at Volkswagen (Anhui).
