Shanghai (ZXZC)- The China-built Audi e-tron will go on sale in the first quarter of 2021, according to a local media outlet. The made-in-China version is expected to be priced around 500,000 yuan ($76,260), versus the guiding prices of 658,800 yuan ($100,480) to 828,600 yuan ($126,370) for the existing imported one.

The exterior of the Chinese-spec Audi e-tron stays true to the imported version. As a full-size SUV, the Audi e-tron represents a sporty exterior design characterized by strong-yet-sleek aerodynamic bodywork. The smooth panels cover surfaces from front to rear with several grooves helping optimally direct airflow, such as the lines on the bonnet. Restricted by local laws and regulations, the homegrown version still adopts conventional rearview mirrors rather than side-mounted cameras.

The taillight uses a through-type shape, and the shape of the lampshade is very three-dimensional. The “50 quattro” mark at the rear indicates the power performance of the China-made e-tron may be weaker than that of the imported version that carries “55 quattro”.

The domestically-made e-tron measures 4,901mm long, 1,935mm wide and 1,640mm tall, and has a wheelbase spanning 2,928mm. It is armed with two electric motors—the one at the front axle is good for up to 115kW and 226N·m, while the rear can churn out a maximum of 172kW and 314 N·m. The 142Wh/kg ternary-lithium battery pack enables a NEDC-rated range of 465km.

In all likelihood, the interior of the China-built version will inherit the design of the existing e-tron that carries a full liquid crystal dashboard, two console-mounted screens as well as a four-spoke steering wheel.
