Shanghai (ZXZC)- ORA Haomao (meaning “Good Cat”), the fourth mass-produced model under Great Wall Motor (GWM)’s electric vehicle (EV) brand ORA, hit the market on November 24. At the same time, the first Haomao car rolled off the assembly line at GWM's Taizhou manufacturing plant.

Coming with five trim levels, the Haomao is sold at guiding prices ranging from 103,900 yuan ($15,760) to 143,900 yuan ($21,830).

The Haomao comes based on GWM's “L.E.M.O.N.” platform and features retrofuturistic styling cues giving off distinct Porsche vibes. The latter is not coincidental because ex-Porsche designer Emanoel Derta was responsible for the exterior. Some local media outlets liken it to a mini-sized Porsche Macan. However, the simple front and round headlights are also quite similar to that of Volkswagen's Beetle.

There is a closed-up grille at the front. Charger ports are located on both sides of the car. The rear features a cleaner look as well.

With dimensions of 4,235mm length, 1,825mm width, 1,596mm height and a wheelbase of 2,650mm, the Haomao plays in the league of compact cars.

To appeal to tech-savvy young consumers, the entire lineup of the ORA Haomao comes standard with 7.25- and 10-inch liquid crystal displays carrying Intel's Apollo Lake Mid chips and Qualcomm's in-vehicle processors, and featuring such functions as voice interaction and facial recognition, as well as Apps like Amap and iQIYI.

The new compact car is able to sprint from 0-50km/h within only 3.8 seconds thanks to a 105kW/210N·m electric motor at the front axle and the specially-designed lightweight body with a drag coefficient of 0.289 Cd. It comes with two versions based on NEDC-rated range—the 47.8kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack enables a 400km range, while the 59.1kWh ternary-lithium battery pack is for 500km range. The Haomao can be charged to 80% from 30% of its battery capacity within only 30 minutes.
