Covering an area of 1831.07 mu (1,220,713 square meters), the government-backed Jingmen production base contains a complete vehicle manufacturing plant and an auto parts industrial park. With an aim of developing into a global sample factory under the “Industrie 4.0” standard, the Jingmen factory possesses stamping, welding, assembly and NEV production workshops, armed with manufacturing facilities bought from domestics and overseas suppliers in Germany, Switzerland and other countries, according to a posting on GWM's WeChat account.

Under the agreement, Jingmen municipal government consents to transfer the equity of Jingmen production base to Great Wall Holdings, while the latter will produce there SUVs and pickups after modifying the SUV-only assembly line into a flexible production line that supports both SUV and pickup models. Meanwhile, the company will invest in four component supporting projects for automobile seat, exterior & interior, chassis and rubber articles.

“We will build the Jingmen base into a comprehensive manufacturing base that focuses on complete vehicle production, while also offers key auto parts and relevant industrial services. In the future, we will help Jingmen build a high-quality automobile industrial cluster, which is expected to boost the transition and upgrading for local automotive industries. Great Wall Holdings will do its best to make sure the project will be implemented as scheduled,” said Wei Jianjun, chairman of Great Wall Motor.
