FAW-Toyota logs 40% year-on-year hike in July sales
Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW-Toyota announced that its sales in July soared 40% from a year earlier to 79,050 units, which made its year-to-date sales amounted to roughly 430,000 units, a slight increase of 0.8% compared to the year-ago period.
The joint venture said its market share has increased to 4.7% as of July.
With 32,184 vehicles sold, the Corolla was still the best-seller for the month of July. Its Jan.-Jul. sales reached 185,414 units.

There were another two models whose July sales exceeded 10,000 units last month. The sales of the Avalon stood at 12,898 units and 19,181 RAV4s were sold during the same period. In the Jan.-Jul. period, the two well-received models had sales volume of 59,416 units and 98,474 units respectively.
According to a local report, the automaker will put two new trim levels of the Avalon onto the market in August, which will be powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, paired with 8-speed automatic transmission.

At the Chengdu Motor Show 2020, FAW Toyota showcased the TNGA-based Avalon, all-new RAV4, all-new Corolla, and its first all-electric model, the IZOA EV, which just hit the market on May 20.
FAW-Toyota's Prado officially bowed out of production on June 23, 2020 with its outputs ending at 346,706 units, as it has not suited China's regulations on fuel consumption and emission.
At the same time, Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor also decided to shift the annual capacity of 45,000 units from producing the Prado 3.5L SUVs to making the Avalon vehicles.
