With a dimension of 4,626mm long, 1,860mm wide and 1,662mm tall and a wheelbase of 2,730mm , the Tayron X plays in the league of mid-sized coupe SUV.

Retaining some of the design seen on the Tayron SUV that hit the market in October 2018, the Tayron X adequately showcases the elements of the Volkswagen's R-Line trims, which are designed to offer drivers a car that looks and feels like a racing inspired. The entire model series will come standard with the R-Line suite.

Compared to the Tayron, the coupe SUV model's employment of R-Line elements is more aggressive. For instance, the chrome-plated trims at the grille have been further curtailed, while the air-breather at the front covers a larger area and is designed more exaggeratedly.

The biggest differences rest upon the fastback-styled roofline that panders to younger consumers' aesthetic taste, while somewhat decreases the headroom for the passengers at the back-row seat.

The change is also evident for the rear. Aside from the massive rear spoiler, the more slender taillights coupled with LED light source are quite unmistakable. It packs an exhaust layout with dual stacks of pipes on each side, rendering more sports essence.

The “X” adopts the similar interior layout to that of the Tayron. An occupant can see in the cockpit such amenities as the LCD (liquid crystal display) dashboard, the 9.2-inch console-mounted display, the touchscreen for tri-zone climate control system and the air purifier. The two-tone seats and the faux carbon fiber panel help elevate the sports nature of the vehicle.

The Tayron X is driven by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine available for two power options—162kW/350 N·m and 137kW/320 N·m, hooked up to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Some variants are equipped with the all-wheel drive system (Tayron X, photo source: FAW-Volkswagen).
