China auto outputs, sales in June record double-digit growth
Shanghai (ZXZC)- China auto outputs and sales reached 2.325 million units and 2.3 million units in June, growing 22.5% and 11.6% compared to the year-ago period respectively, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). These were also the all-time historical highs for the month of June.
The overall increase mainly stemmed from the robust growth achieved by the CV unit as the government launched a number of projects for infrastructure construction in order to stimulate the economic growth which was curbed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last month, the CV business sold 536,000 vehicles, closing its first half of 2020 with a new record-breaking figure.
There were 1.798 million PVs output in June, representing a 12.2% year-on-year growth. However, PV sale volume only climbed 1.8%, 5.2% percentage points fewer than the growth in May sales, while it still rose 5.4% from the previous month.
The contributing factors to PV sales increase include the 10.5% growth gained by the SUV sector. Nonetheless, the downturn in car and MPV sales largely downplayed the SUV’s contribution.
The decrease in China's first-half auto outputs and sales stood at 16.8% and 16.9% respectively, continuing to shrink over the previous months and performing better than what the association expected.

The NEV outputs and sales still dwindled 25% and 33.1% from the year-ago period respectively to 102,000 units and 104,000 units in June.
With 82,000 units sold, the BEV unit represented a flagging movement of 37.6%. The PHEV sales dipped 6% year on year to 21,000 units. Moreover, only 81 fuel cell vehicles were sold last month, plummeting 83.3% from the previous year.
The Jan.-Jun. NEV sales still decreased 37.4% to 393,000 units, while the monthly volume started rebounding month by month since March.
